Chamber Music Program

Our Chamber Music Program begins as soon as students are able to play their instrument with some ease as well as read music. Students are placed in groups with their peers in various instrumentation including string quartets, trios, and duos. Older students can use this as an opportunity to work on Sonatas with a pianist. All groups are coached by cellist, OPSA faculty member and Kontras Quartet member, Jean Hatmaker.

Chamber Music is a fundamentally collaborative art form that leads students to deeper levels of musical maturity, developing the life skills of cooperation and communication that can shape noble hearts. It is an art form created in relationship with others that results in lifelong friendships. Chamber music groups that thrive depend on the willing collaboration of private teachers, coaches, parents, and students, supported by a strong, visionary community.
